7 Listopada 2011 - pokaz kolekcji Macieja Zienia " Look At Me"
Maciej Zien a designer well-known for his ultra-feminine outfits and perfect workmanship. He is decidedly fond of Soho Factory as he comes back here with his subsequent collections. This time, this November evening he plied us with his vision of summer 2012. This fashion show was hailed as the break-through in his career.
Inspired by Look At Me exhibition by Pawel Wojcial, Designer wishes to draw our attention to the condition of the modern world. Flowing fabrics emphasize pivotal spheres of the body and in the meantime they veil all its flaws. Frugal draping and brave cuts are becoming the symbol of battle between perversion and prudery. White and black, which make the basis of this collection, significantly accentuate this aggressive contrast and grant it new esteem. Thrifty palette of colours was enriched with the favourite nude colour. The form of the creation, however, is still of prime importance.
“The previous collection was a 180 degrees turn in my life. This new direction is even more visible in this collection. I’m trying to make the fashion I create as conscious as possible. I base not only on natural fabrics but also I count on our national production. In the meantime I really care about artistic form. For me fashion is art, which every day allows me to express myself.” – says Maciej Zien. “The main theme of this collection is a clash of contemporary trends with instinctive, even primitive desire for the beauty.” – explains the Designer.
The collection was enriched by male line, which highlights its duality. “Throughout my whole career I was asked why so seldom I design for men. This collection was an ideal opportunity to let men express themselves through fashion. I was trying to keep the spirit of this brand and to create clothes that will give comfort but also will make somebody stand out. This collection’s male element alludes to harmony and reconciliation of antagonistic values.” – reveals the Designer.
Spring-Summer season is the triumph of Maciej Zien’s beloved silk. Thick satins, moulding georgette, and ultra-light muslin are the core of this collection - all ordered by the Designer from the best Italian and French purveyors. Light cotton fabrics complement all.
Summer idleness and freedom are inspirational and all this Maciej Zien has found in Berlin. The collection tells the story of hot summer days in European metropolis and crazy nights in its underground clubs. For the first time Zien’s projects have been decorated with prints, the leading motif of which is the sculpture of a she-wolf by Pawel Wocial. This literal transfer of art onto fabric is arresting. The characteristic accent gives this collection a much younger look and in the long run gives Zien a ticket to street fashion.
Maciej Zien does not stop to astonish. He is constantly looking for innovative fashion solutions. In his experiments he is not afraid of getting inspired by modern art consequently directing his work onto alternative path. His projects unwaveringly draw attention and become the projection of the soul of the person wearing them.
Every creation of his can substitute for thousands of words and can become the manifesto of being, an element that will make you stand out from the crowd.
This collection had its premiere during fashion week in Paris. At the corner of Champs-Élysées and Avenue Montaigne, in a historic tenement the proposals for spring 2012 could have been seen as a part of prestigious Tranoi show reserved only for the most luxurious world brands.
